Laura Hill is founder and president of Careers in Motion LLC, a career coaching firm that she formed in 2005. A recognized expert on executive career transitions, she has been featured on CNBC’s The Wall Street Journal Report With Maria Bartiromo and Business Insider, and has been quoted on career topics in Forbes.com, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, among others.
Laura helps clients optimize their careers and make better decisions through strategic planning, personal branding, and effective job search, including assistance with resumes, networking, interviewing, and negotiations. Her clients have included CEOs and other top executives, and professionals in virtually every function from finance to marketing, IT, HR, and operations. Her broad industry knowledge includes financial services, technology, not-for-profit management, media/internet/e-commerce, consumer products, professional services and startups.
Just prior to starting Careers in Motion LLC, Laura headed client services at Crenshaw Associates, a career management boutique that serves top executives. Just prior to that, Laura was vice president of human capital at MobileSpring, Inc., a venture-funded technology startup where her responsibilities included recruiting, human resources, and organizational planning.
From 1993 to 2000, Laura was a recruiter in the [then] emerging Internet field. She was owner of Able Associates and managing director at Redwood Partners, where she authored the Internet CFO Study and recruited top talent to startups and new media positions at major firms. Earlier, Laura was regional research director for retainer search firm Korn/Ferry International and was an officer at Chase Manhattan Bank, where she worked in international, wholesale, and retail banking.
Laura’s professional affiliations include serving as a communications expert for Crenshaw Associates, a senior career coach for Ivy Exec, and a coach for TRIUM, a joint M.B.A. program of NYU Stern, London School of Economics, and HEC in Paris, France. She is a frequent speaker for various business school alumni and professional groups. Laura received an M.B.A. in finance from the Stern School at New York University and a B.B.A. in marketing from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas. She is a certified career coach with The Five O’Clock Club and is qualified to administer the Myers-Briggs personality assessment and interpret Johnson O’Connor aptitude results. In 2013 Laura became an angel investor and an active member of 37 Angels. She is an avid golfer and splits her time between New York and Austin, Texas.
